PS4 - Silicone Molds

Finished up PS4 this week, in which we had to design and fabricate a silicone mold and cast epoxy resin. Not one of my favorite assignments - a little too messy and challenging to work in with a full-time work schedule, as the silicone required over 18 hours to cure once poured. However, I definitely learned a lot about the do's and don'ts of this prototyping method. This will be a helpful technique to keep in mind when preparing samples for voice-of-customer visits. 3D-printed parts tend to feel brittle when handled and CNC plastic parts can be expensive to create (plastic block + machinist time)

, so this may be a cost effective way to produce a moderate amount of samples for end-user feedback.
